My Belly-to-Baby(SM) series bookends that amazing time when life begins and kicks are first felt with the arrival of newborns and their tiny curled toes. Soon enough, those 9 months that seem to last long will feel like a long time ago. Capture the moment, and the beauty of this special time.
The photo session is relaxed and discrete. Have nothing that you think you can wear? I have the most flattering, beautiful gown I will bring. Bare bellies encouraged but not necessary. We can discuss clothing options when we schedule your session. Daddies to be are also encouraged to be present, if not for images then to help unload my van!
The delicate approach I take to photograph newborns includes soft props, use of natural light, heating pads and a huge, firm beanbag to ensure their utmost comfort – sleeping or awake!
Newborn Photography
Your little one’s first play date needs to be a Week-One-Photo-Playdate(SM). At just under 10 days new, with the best time being day 5 or 6, I come with everything needed to have a successful shoot.
I know you won’t feel photo ready, which is why all you need to wear is a black shirt and comfy pants. I will only use you and Daddy for arm, hand and maybe side profile face shots. House not visitor ready? I’d be surprised if it was! I am there only to capture images of your precious new one, not do a white glove test. Want to catch up on sleep or a shower? Even better, I can get you when I need you. Newborns stay asleep longer when their food source is not around. I welcome your help, too (holding a reflector or the backdrop).
These play dates can last anywhere from 2 - 4 hours depending on the babe. Patience is the key. There may be lots of feedings or cuddling in between each shot. This is normal and to be planned for. I like to refer to newborn play dates as ‘baby-led’. When we book your date, I will give you lots of suggestions and tips that will aid in a more productive, time efficient session.
Baby/Children Photography
My Forget-Me-Not-Milestone(SM) collections capture that precious time at 3/6/9/12 months or newborn/6/12 months. It’s amazing how fast they grow! Six months is great to capture the milestone of sitting unassisted; 9 months is the milestone of standing and cruising things; 12 months is usually walking. (Not all children hit the big milestones on said months, so we will want to wait until they are reached. All of my little ones didn’t walk until 14 months, but it’s still fun to capture those first unsteady wobbling steps.) The twelve month is an absolute blast -- we hold a cake smashing party! Best yet, I do all of the clean up.
